Following on from the great success of Dubstep Allstars Vol. 8, Tunnidge and Distance are back! Distance and his Chestplate label are familiar favourites from the early days of the Dubstep scene going back to 2005 and unlike many of the recent imitators, Distance has kept it true to the old school style and this latest release from Tunnidge is no different.
A side Aftershock is straight up heavy hitting subs with some clever shifting high hats to complement the standard kick-snare swagger that Dubstep fans have come to know and love.
For my money though it’s all about Blame on the flipside, a tasty collaboration with Distance which is full of ominous, brooding vibes. Intricate beat work and a growling but understated sub combine with haunting synth overlays to create a dark, echoing tune that wouldn’t be out of place scoring a horror movie.
Aftershock/Blame hits all good record stores on February 13th.
