Song of Return, formed from 2/3rds of the mutilated bodies of the highly acclaimed, Glasgow based, Union of Knives. Whom due to the powers at be, and more probably a short sighted record label, (AHEM EMI!) were forced to disband. Splice a lung of louis abbot (Admiral Fallow) for live duties and we have Song of Return. Having listened to the massively anticipated debut album ‘limits’ it is evident that S.O.R. have taken their time brooding over something very special…….

Personally, I prefer Song of Return served fresh, on jagged mountain tops. The ones where if you take a wrong step in almost any direction, you are going a long long way down. I will admit now that S.O.R. are not strictly electro; they cross the genres between indie, electro and rock – however they have created a very powerful, unique sound. Songs such as ‘One Millon Hertz’, ‘The Blizard’ and ‘Limitless’ are the sort of music you need to listen to after blasting your brain withh too much electro the night before (works for me).
You can preview and buy their self released album here or on iTunes. There are also four more tracks on the album (at £8 its a veritable steal).
Alongside a very cleverly produced record S.O.R. are a must see live. Bringing every ounce of energy from the album plus a pound or two more and then firing it in tiny pellets of musical genius straight into your senses. If you get a chance to see them live… Do it!!
